The Havre High softball team had to wait a few extra days, but, the wait was worth it.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Blue Ponies made their home debut when they crushed the Miles City Cowgirls 12-2 in their home-opener at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field.
The win improved Havre, under head coach Tonny Vigliotti, to 3-0 on the young season, and also served as an exciting first home game for the Blue Ponies.
And Havre wasted little time in jumping all over Miles City as the Ponies plated six runs in the bottom off the first inning. They tacked on three more in the second and another three in third to end the contest in just five innings.
Havre belted out 12 hits, as catcher Camille Keeley homered for the third straight game, and drove in three runs. Ainsley Courtnage also had a double for the Ponies, while Jersi Morse, Rachel Jette, Kamree Oliver, Brenna Hanson and Shelby Huston all got in on the hit parade as well.
In the circle, Elle Verploegen picked up her third win of the season, while Jette pitched the final two innings of the game, a game in which Havre remained undefeated in Eastern A play. The duo combined for 10 strikeouts.
The Ponies are now scheduled to play the Fergus Invitational Friday and Saturday in Lewistown.
