The Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team has landed its second big recruit this spring.
MSU-N head coach Shawn Huse has announced the signing of 6-3 guard Jack Reardon of Munster, Indiana.
After a highly successful career at Mendocino Community College two years ago, he spent last season at NCAA Division II Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.
While at Mendocino under long-time successful coach Billy Offill, Reardon was named 1st Team in the always tough Bay Valley Conference. He averaged 18.5 points per game, cashing in on 73 three pointers. Most notably, however, he shot an incredibly efficient 50 percent, ranking him first in the state in three-point shooting. He also garnered 3.4 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists per game and shot over 83 percent from the foul line. A very good student in the classroom, as well as on the court, Reardon will be completing his business degree at Northern.
"Jack is first and foremost a high character guy and an outstanding teammate," said coach Huse. "Yes, he has the ability to do great things on the floor, but he does it all while being a hard worker, great communicator and a team-first guy. We are elated that he has chosen us after the journey he has been on. In our conversations, he consistently talks about his goals for us as a team moving forward. He was looking for the best fit for himself and was eager to jump on board with us, given his opportunity here and in our setting and culture. He has always expressed with me that he is anxious to help fill our need, and most importantly do what he can to give us a great chance to accomplish great things as a team.
"On the court, Jack plays all guard spots very well," added Huse, "Jack is a strong guard who has the ability to do multiple things on the floor. Whether coming off screens or playing off the bounce, Jack shoots a high percentage and makes the right reads with his passes as well. Ultimately, he is a competitor who brings the type of positive energy that will be a great 'shot in the arm' for our group of great guys."
MSU-Northern is coming off a challenging injury laden season, graduating two senior starters, one of which was unable to compete in conference play due to his surgery, and returns a great deal of experience from the 2023-24 team.
