After Charles returned from Vietnam, Noreen met and married Charles Evans Halvorson July 27, 1968 and together they made their home in many different places, such as Lincoln, Neihart, Reed Point and Great Falls, working as school teachers.

Charles and Noreen couldn't have children, so they adopted Neal and Michelle.

Charles worked for the Boy Scouts of America and retired in 2000 due to health problems.

Noreen heard of a job teaching at Rocky Boy School system, so she drove up to Havre, Montana, and interviewed for the position. She was hired in 2003. She taught at Rocky Boy School for five years and then transferred to the East End Colony to teach for another five years until she retired in 2013. Noreen loved to inspire and educate the young minds of children. She enjoyed interacting with them and seeing the "light" come on when they understood the concept she was teaching.

Shortly after she retired, her husband Charles passed away in 2014.

Noreen enjoyed working puzzles, crosswords, reading, knitting, crocheting and collecting art and books. She was a good shopper and loved to find a good deal. She also watched television and loved a good movie. She would go to the senior center for lunch, visit people and stay active. She was also an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She attended many of the ladies luncheons and was part of TOPS.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Charles.

Noreen is survived by her son, Charles Neal Halvorson, and daughter, Michelle M. Morales; two granddaughters, Madilyn and Elizabeth Halvorson; her brother, Richard (Mary Lou) McLees; nephew, Craig (Colleen) McLees, and niece, Stacey Diehl; numerous extended family members, her church family and friends.
