Ponies crush Eagles, Saturday games postponed

They didn't get to make their home debut Saturday, but the Havre High softball team was still able to keep rolling.

Last Thursday, the Ponies traveled to Lewistown for a rivalry game with the Fergus Golden Eagles. And even on the Eagles' turf, they were no match for the Ponies, of head coach Tony Vigliotti, as Havre rolled to a 14-3 Eastern A win.

On the mound, Elle Verploegen was spectaculair again, allowing just three runs on seven hits, while striking out five Eagles for her second win of the young season.

Havre also exploded at the dish as the Ponies scored three runs in the first inning, another three in the third and eight more in the final two innings combined. The Ponies belted out 16 hits, including homer bombs from Camille Keeley, Jersi Morse, Kamree Oliver and Ainsley Courtnage. Keeley added a pair of doubles to her day, while driving in five runs. Oliver also had three RBIs as Havre improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Blue Ponies, who slated to make their home debut Saturday, will now do that Tuesday when they host Miles City at 3 p.m. at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field.
