The weather refused to cooperate for the Havre High tennis teams this past weekend, but the Blue Ponies still got some tennis in.
The Ponies, of head coach Jeff Miller, were slated to host Glendive, East Helena, Conrad and Cut Bank in the two-day Havre Invitational last weekend, but weather wiped out all of Saturday.
So instead, the Ponies took on East Helena in a double-dual Friday. In the official varsity dual, the Havre boys beat the Vigilantes 4-3, while East Helena won the girls dual 5-2.
On the boys side, Havre senior Jackson Headdress scored an 8-6 win at No. 1 singles, while the Ponies swept the doubles portion of the meet. Carter and Max Spangler won at No. 1 doubles 8-1, while Mason Kinsella and Carter Chagnon won 8-0 and Reid Kato and Callen Stoner were victorious 8-1.
The Pony girls got an 8-5 win from Louise Evangelista at No. 4 singles, while Heather Herring and Alera Chandler won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
The Ponies played a second round of exhibition matches against the Vigilantes, where HHS won plenty of matches before the end of the day. And at the end of the day, Miller was excited and happy for his teams, especially as seven seniors celebrated their final home matches of their careers.
Now, the Ponies will continue their season with two days at the Class A Duals Friday and Saturday in Cut Bank.
