News you can use
I know, bad weather is returning to Havre. Even though it's been a year since we moved away, trust me, I look at Havre's weather every single day. So I know, that while April is here, winter isn't letting go just yet.
Still, because we've now turned to April, it's time to bring back my local golf report. As you all know, I'm playing golf in Denver now, but, I still want to work diligently to bring you your local golf report every week between now and Halloween.
And there's a couple reasons why I feel compelled to continue writing this column.
The first is obvious. If I don't, it might not happen, and Havre and the Hi-Line has way too cool of a golf culture to not have a golf report in the HDN each and every week during this season.
Secondly, I enjoy writing this column because it keeps me connected to something that was so, so important to me, and that's golf in my hometown.
I've told many people I've met on various golf courses around the Denver Metro that, one of the things I miss most about home is golf. I miss golfing with my friends, I miss my league team, I miss the tournaments, I miss volunteering for the Fighting for a Cure weekend, I miss coaching golf, and I miss just hanging out the Pro Shops just talking to whoever was in there.
There is so much I enjoyed about golf in my hometown, and that was something that was really hard to give. And continuing this column helps me stay close to that, even from 1,000 miles away.
So having said that, it's time to get the 2024 golf column up and running, and though I'm very away, I'd love for this to be the best year of this column ever.
I'm asking local courses to send me tournament schedules, and pertinent course info. I'd love for courses to send me photos of winners at tournaments, and anything else they want published from those tournament.
I'm reaching out to all golf league secretaries to send me weekly league results by Sunday's before this column is published, and when the playoffs roll around later this summer, send me pictures and results.
Courses, if you have announcements you need out, feel free to e-mail me those as well.
Don't forget aces and other milestones, too. We want to celebrate everything you all do this entire golf season.
In others words, please, send me all your golf news and photos to [email protected] and I will get in in my weekly column, which is now 22 years old. Man that's crazy.
Now, with that out of the way, welcome back everybody. Welcome to a new year of golf in Havre. Enjoy it because the season goes by way too fast!
