The full original story follows:
Two Rocky Boy men, Darin Bernard Caplette, 41, and Thomas Roderick Yallup, 42, were killed early Thursday morning after being shot in Box Elder, in an apparent targeted assault that is still under investigation by law enforcement.
A release from Hill County Sheriff's Office, put out after the Havre Daily News' morning deadline Thursday, said there will be an increased police presence in Box Elder for a considerable length of time, as crime scenes are still being examined.
Hill County Sheriff Jamie Ross said in the release that this appears to have been a targeted assault and they have no evidence to suggest that there is a larger danger to the public at this time.
The Rocky Boy Police Department put out a similar statement on Facebook saying "with confidence, there is currently no danger to the public."
The release says Hill County deputies were dispatched to a shots-fired call in the parking lot to the D&L Bar at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, where the men were found having been shot near the gas pumps.
Both men were transported to the hospital where they died from their wounds.
The matter is being investigated by Hill County Sheriffs deputies as well as Cascade County Sheriff's detectives, tribal police, Chouteau County sheriff's deputies and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation.
The Rocky Boy Police Department post said persons of interest are being questioned by county, state and federal investigators.
The bodies of Caplette and Yallup will be sent to the Montana State Crime Lab for autopsy, the release said, and people with information related to the incident are asked to call 406-265-2512.
Ross said investigators must rely on facts and evidence and asked people not to come to them with rumors, which will only cost law enforcement time.
