The 37th Hi-Line Invitational Tournament concluded Saturday evening at MSU-Northern. Inside the Armory Gymnasium, the Class AA girls defeated the Class A girls in the title game by a score of 98-76, while the Class A boys defeated the AA boys 97-89 for the championship.
The girls consolation game went to the Class B girls, who defeated Class C by a score of 81-78. The boys consolation game went to Class B, who defeated Class C by a score of 108-93. The co-MVP’s of the girls division were Brianna Williams from Billings Skyview and Kortney Grossman from Billings West. The boys Most Valuable Player went to Kyler Engellant from Beaverhead County.
The Class A boys title included a local flavor as the team was coached by Blue Pony girls assistant Tommy Brown, while Havre High juniors Matt Huse and Tre Gary were part of the team. The Class A girls team also included Blue Ponies Ariana Gary and Amaya Jarvis. The girls awards included, Kameryn Ketcham winning the 3-point contest, Paige Lofting of Huntley was the Assist Leader and scoring leader, while Skyview’s Bri Williams was the rebounding leader. Miss Hustle went to Paeton Gunlock of Bigfork and Miss Defense went to Chinook’s Halllie Neibauer.
The Girls All-Star Team was composed of Williams, Grossman, Lofing, Baker’s Madison O’Connor, Roy-Winifred’s Isabelle Heggem, Bigfork’s Braden Gunlock, Huntley’s Savannah Windy Boy, Gallatin’s Jada Davis, Big Sky’s Kaydence Couture, as well as Gary and Jarvis.
The boys awards went to Zad Rodarte of Gallatin winning the 3-point contest, Reynolds Johnston of Missoula taking the Assist Leader, Engallant was the Rebound Leader, Steffenson was the scoring leader, Kash Embry of Bozeman was Mr. Hustle, Johnslee Peierra of Lustre Christian won the Dunk Contest and Carter Curnow was Mr. Defense.
The Boys All-Star Team was composed of Engellant, Kellen Harrison of Bozeman, Rodarte, Jaxen Lieberg of Helena High, Curnow, Merchant, Rey Johnston of Loyola, Steffenson, Ethan Stack of Loyola, Pierre, Christian Triemstra of Manhattan Christian and Mason Venema of Manhattan Christian.
