Though it didn't end how either of them were hoping, what a season it still was for both the Chinook and Big Sandy girls basketball teams.
On Friday though, the season ended for both.
At the Class B state tournament in Billings, the Sugarbeeters played at state win the first season back in Class B. Chinook opened with a loss 46-30 loss to Baker on Thursday, where Hallie Neibauer scored 19 points and Alexus Seymour added eight.
On Friday, Chinook squared off against Anaconda in a loser-out game, and while the Beeters played really well, they fell short 59-56. The Beeters, who led 28-21 at halftime, got 21 points from Neibauer, while Hannah Schoen added 14 points in what was the final game of a remarkable season for the Beeters.
Big Sandy's season also came to a close on Friday at the Class C state tournament in Great Falls. After finishing third at the 9C, the Pioneers reached state via a challenge game, where they lost to defending champion Twin Bridges in the opening round on Wednesday.
Then, one Friday morning, the Pioneers struggled in a loser-out game against Roberts, where they fell 76-48. Eva Yeadon scored a game-high 23 points for Big Sandy, while Keira Galbavy added 14 points.
And while both the Pioneers and Beeters came up short at state, it was still an incredible season for both teams from the Hi-Line.
