Frankie's coffee house opens in Atrium

The Atrium Mall has added a new neighbor to the building, Frankie's, a coffee shop located on the main floor.

Frankie's is owned by Frankie and Travis Chamberlain, a husband-wife team and were elementary school sweethearts. They have eight children and three grandchildren.

Frankie Chamberlain was born in Alaska, where she owned coffee shops, and she has been a professional master barista for more than 20 years, trained in roasting and roast profiles, coffee history, brewing chemistry and milk dynamics.

"Our roots are deep in both Alaska and Montana. Travis is sixth-generation on the Hi-Line and great-grandson of Dorothy Woronik," Chamberlain said, "We moved back from Alaska in July 2023 and started building and renovating the coffee shop in September. Long hours and hard work paid off and we opened in January.

"We want Frankie's to be a gathering place for our community, warm, inviting, a treat during busy days and not cost-prohibitive. We will be adding a food menu soon for both breakfast and lunch options," Chamberlain added.

She said she likes being in the historic Buttrey's Department Store building, which became the Atrium Mall after the department store closed.

"The building is in the historic registry and located in the heart of downtown," Chamberlain said. "It has such a comforting vintage feel, you sense the history as soon as you walk in the door."

She elaborated on trying to make the business more of a gathering place than just a place to get some coffee.

"We have a very relaxed environment that's great for large friend groups and student study sessions," Chamberlain said. "We have books to read, board games and puzzles, we encourage hanging out and socializing in the lounge. We feature daily drink specials."

She added that they are trying to make their products affordable, as well.

"Our espresso beans are brought in from an awesome roaster in Alaska. We are very conscientious of the cost to our customers and do not charge for alternative milks, flavored syrups, whipped cream or any of the fun extras," Chamberlain said, "You'll find our prices to be very straight-forward and comfortable in comparison to typical espresso pricing."

She said they also offer military, veteran, first responder and student discounts. As a Havre Area Chamber of Commerce member, Frankie's also accepts Chamber Bucks.

"If coffee isn't your taste we have a variety of teas, smoothies, Redbull and Lotus drinks," she added. "We brought our signature drink with us, made famous in Alaska, Tie-Dye Infusion Smoothie.

"We are proud to join 20 retailers and services in the Atrium," she said, adding, "We support police, firemen and military"

Frankie's business hours are Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number for call-in-orders is 406-400-2759.
