With their final games of the regular season this weekend, the Havre High boys and girls basketball teams will be looking for strong finishes before heading into the postseason. If the Blue Ponies are going to do that, they will need to beat Lewistown and Glendive on the road.
The weekend slate begins Friday night at Lewistown where the HHS girls will play first. The Lewistown girls team heads into the game with an overall record of 8-10 and a Northeast A record of 3-4. The Golden Eagles will be looking to avenge a 63-38 loss to Havre just this past week. If they are going to do that, they will need Lexy Burnham to have a monster game.
The HHS girls team heads into the weekend with a record of 13-3 and a record of 5-1 in the Northeast A. As they look to end their regular season strong, the Ponies will once again look to Amaya Jarvis and Ariana Gary to lead the way.
Later Friday, the HHS and Lewistown boys teams will go at it. The Lewistown boys team has a record of 7-10 this year but with a 5-2 record in the Northeast A. As the Golden Eagles look to even the season series after a 66-51 loss to Havre last week, they will need Brody Jenness to get rolling.
The HHS boys team holds an overall record of 12-4 this winter with a 5-1 record in conference play. As they work to build momentum heading into the postseason, the Ponies will look to Tre Gary and Kash Keller to continue their excellent seasons.
The weekend road trip will continue Saturday with a stop at Glendive.
The girls will play first as the Glendive girls team comes into the game with a record of 3-14 and a conference record of 0-7. If the Red Devils are going to get the upset and avenge a 73-32 loss to Havre from earlier this year, they will need Codi Nagle to play well.
The boys will play after as the Glendive boys head into the matchup with a 6-9 overall record and a 3-4 conference record. After losing to Havre, 69-59, earlier this season, the Red Devils hope that Carter Amsler can lead them to an upset victory.
On Friday at Lewistown, the HHS girls team will play at 4 p.m. and the HHS boys team will play right after at 5:30 p.m.
Then Saturday at Glendive, the HHS girls will play at 4 p.m. and the HHS boys will again play right after at 5:30 p.m.
