Blue Pony swimmers ready to race for gold

The moment the Havre High swim teams have been waiting for is finally here. All of the time in the pool will now pay off as Havre races for state championship glory.

Friday and Saturday in Great Falls, the Blue Ponies will compete in the Montana State Swimming Championships.

The state swim meet will be again scored separately as AA and A-B-C will have separate scoring, That means the Blue Ponies are competing against strong teams like defending champion Billiings Central on the boys and girls sides, as well as Columbia Falls and Whitefish. Hardin has also been traditionally strong in swimming.

But, as tough as the competition will be this weekend, Havre, led by head coach Jill Cammon, is strong in the water, too.

The Blue Pony girls have a slew of outstanding relay teams, while racers like Britton Elliot, Miriam and Elizabeth Carroll, Brenna Hansen, Olivia Erickson and others will look to battle for medals in their individual events.

On the boys side, Koby Preputin leads a young HHS team that will also look to score key points in the relays.

No matter how Havre does this weekend, however, the Ponies will compete hard and swim well, and that's the first goal of every Havre High swimmer.

The State Swim Meet begins with preliminaries Friday, while the finals will be held Saturday. All the action will take place at the Bison Fieldhouse Pool in Great Falls.
