Havre basketball keeps rolling over the weekend

With the postseason inching closer and closer, the Havre High boys and girls basketball teams are looking to hit their strides at the perfect moment of the season. Well this past weekend, both squads may have found that late season momentum.

At home, the HHS boys team picked up a 69-59 win over Glendive and a 79-65 victory over Hardin. The HHS girls team also took care of business at home with a 73-32 win over Glendive and a 70-47 victory against Hardin.

The HHS boys basketball team opened their weekend this past Friday night at home with their 69-59 win over conference rival Glendive. The Ponies had a slow start as they trailed, 22-12, in the opening frame. But they dominated the second quarter to make it a 33-33 game at the half.

The Ponies dominated the third quarter to take a 53-43 lead into the fourth. They then held on for the win to improve to 3-1 in the Northeast A. Tre Gary led the team with 20 points while Jackson Headdress recorded 16 points for Havre.

The Ponies continued to roll at home with a 79-65 win over Hardin this past Saturday. With the victory, the Ponies improved to 10-3 overall this winter and have completed the season sweep of the Bulldogs.

The Ponies raced out of the gates as they took a 27-10 lead in the first quarter. The Ponies then kept their foot on the pedal as they stretched their lead to 50-25 heading into the half. With the big lead, the Ponies were able to hold off Hardin to walk away with the win.

The HHS girls basketball team started its weekend this past Friday with a 73-32 win at home over conference foe Glendive. With the victory, the Ponies improved to 3-1 in the Northeast A.

The Ponies started slow but still had a 12-9 lead to end the opening frame. Havre then dominated the second quarter to take a 36-15 lead into halftime. With the sizable lead, the Ponies cruised to victory in the second half to open the weekend.

The Ponies continued to roll with a 70-47 win over Hardin at home this past Saturday. With the victory, the Ponies improved to 10-3 overall this season and avenged a 57-54 loss to Hardin from earlier this year.

The Ponies took control from the opening tipoff as they raced out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter. The Bulldogs were able to respond in the second quarter as they cut the deficit to 37-27 heading into the half. But the Ponies dominated the third quarter to pull away for the victory.
