Havre wrestling set for Divisionals

The postseason is finally here for the Havre High wrestling teams as they head to Hardin for the Eastern A Divisional Tournament this weekend. With spots in the state tournament on the line, the Blue Ponies will be looking to wrestle well in order to continue their seasons.

At this weekend’s divisional meet, the Ponies will wrestle against schools such as Billings Central, Miles City, Glendive, East Helena, Lewistown, Hardin, Laurel, Lockwood, Livingston, Sidney and Three Forks. Miles City will be looking to repeat as divisional champions while Laurel and Sidney will look to place once again, so the Ponies will have plenty of tough competition this weekend.

Many Ponies that placed at last year’s divisional will look to improve their performance this year and once again advance to the state tournament. Matt Lemer and Reinhard Bold will both look to improve on last year’s second-place finish.

Tristan Stygles and Tommy Lewis finished fourth last year and have had solid seasons so far, they will be looking to carry that over into this weekend. Reed Mantle and Carson Harris will be looking to place again in order to make a return to the state tournament.

The HHS girls wrestling team will also compete this weekend after taking second at divisionals last season. Aliyah Stiffarm will return for the Ponies as she looks to finish first once again to book her ticket to the state tournament.

The Eastern A Divisional Tournament begins in Hardin this Friday.
