Blue Pony swimmers finish season strong in Great Falls

The Havre High swim teams finished their regular season last Friday in Great Falls.

The Blue Ponies competed with Class AA powerhouses Great Falls High and CMR in a double-dual. The Havre boys scored 60 points against GFH and 62 against CMR, while the HHS girls nabbed 105 points against the Bison and 133 against the Rustlers.

Individually, the Havre girls saw Elizabeth Carroll finish fifth in the 200 yard freestyle, while Liliana Smith took second and Mackenzie Dean finished fifth in the 200 individual medley. Britton Elliot placed second and Olivia Erickson took fourth in the 50 free, while Dean added a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly.

Elliott took second for HHS in the 100 free, while Miriam, and Elizabeth Carroll placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Smith added a fifth-place finish and Hailey Gingery was sixth in the 500 free, while Brenna Hansen, Olivia Erickson and Katie Messinger finished third through fifth respectively in the 100 breaststroke.

On the boys side, Koby Preputin had a big day for the Ponies. He took fifth in the 50 free, while Tolson Kempton was fourth and Wade Tungsvick was sixth. Preputin also won the 100 backstroke.

Kempton added a fifth place in the 100 free for the Ponies.

Havre will now get ready for the annual Montana State Swimming Championships which run Feb. 9-10 in Great Falls.
