With the postseason just a month away, both the Havre High boys and girls basketball teams will look to begin hitting their strides. This weekend, the Blue Ponies will have the opportunity to do so when they both play Miles City and Billings Central.
The HHS boys basketball team will face Miles City tonight in a conference game at home at Havre High Gymnasium. The Cowboys head into the game with a record of 3-8. The Ponies will be looking for the season sweep after defeating Miles City, 88-57, earlier this season. If the Cowboys want to split the season, they will need top players such as Dylan Gundlach and Jake Larson to lead the way.
The HHS boys team will then host Billings Central in a home game this Saturday afternoon. The Rams are rolling this season as they head into the matchup with a 10-1 record. On offense, they have been led by the stellar play of Darcy Merchant and Kyler Northrup.
The HHS boys team heads into this weekend with an overall record of 7-2 and a Northeast A conference record of 1-1. As the Ponies look to improve in conference play and try to upset the Rams, they will look to players such as Tre Gary and Kash Keller to lead the way. Gary leads the team with 17.8 points a game this season and Keller has contributed with 13.1 points per game this winter.
The HHS girls team will also be playing this weekend. First, the Ponies will face conference foe Miles City tonight at home. The Cowgirls come into the game with a 10-1 record, but will look to avoid a season sweep after losing, 55-49, to Havre earlier in the year. They will be looking to lean on the likes of Alli Glasscock and Jillian Kanduch tonight.
The HHS girls team will then head on the road to face Billings Central Saturday afternoon. The Rams will provide a tough battle as they are off to a 9-1 start this winter. With players such as Kam Reinker and Coral Old Bull leading the way, the Ponies will have their hands full.
The HHS girls basketball team has a record of 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast A this season. As they look to continue rolling this weekend, they will rely on some of their top players such as Amaya Jarvis and Ariana Gary. If they can play well once again this weekend, the Ponies will be tough to beat.
The HHS boys basketball team will face Miles City at HHS Gymnasium tonight at 7:30 p.m. and will then host Billings Central Saturday at 4 p.m. The HHS girls basketball team will host Miles City tonight at 6 p.m. and will then head on the road to play Billings Central Saturday at 4 p.m.
