She and John were married June 17, 1951, at the church in Whitewater, and the couple made their home 4½ miles north of Kremlin on the Haugen farm. Beverly taught the fifth and sixth grades at the Kremlin Elementary School for four years until she and John began their family. They were blessed with four children, Calvin, Sidney, JoHanna and Kimberly, who were all raised on the family farm.

"Granny" as she was affectionately called, was famous for her "Old Country Hot Cakes" and would even travel with her special pans to cook them for the family when she would go visit, everyone loved the special treat!
When Beverly could no longer live by herself, she made the decision to go into a care facility. She chose to move to the Big Sandy Medical Center, where she established many relationships with all the CNA's, caregivers, nurses and visitors there. They welcomed Bev and treated her like family. She received excellent care, and the family appreciates all the love and support they have been shown.
