Havre Public School begins comprehensive needs assessment

Havre Public Schools will be sending out a comprehensive needs assessment to distinct parents, community members and stakeholders this weekend, which will inform decisions on future projects at the schools.

District Superintendent Brian Gum said the assessment is being done as part of the state’s new accreditation process, but the results will be used by the school directly when evaluating ongoing needs.

“We want to get community feedback on how we are doing,” Gum said, “... so we can do the best job possible for our kids.”

He said the School Climate Committee as well as the Havre Public Schools Education Foundation are both evaluating potential projects at the schools, and getting feedback on what people think the district’s needs are will inform their decisions about what to prioritize.

He said staff have already been given surveys and students will get them, as well, so the district can get as much data as possible.

He said he wants people to know that this survey is one the state uses to evaluate schools for accreditation, and it’s one that they are expected to follow up on with the community, so this isn’t something people are going to spend time on and never hear about again.
