Obituary - Betty Lee 'Tootsie' Henderson

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother left us January 21st, 2024. Betty Lee "Tootsie" Henderson was born May 17th, 1947. She met Eugene LaMere in her younger years  and together they had five children.

Betty Lee enjoyed beading and playing bingo.  You would always find her with Cigs and a Coca Cola.  She managed to live her whole life without a driver's license, but she even made it to Canada. She enjoyed spending time with her children and her all her grandchildren. She also was blessed with lots of great grandchildren.

  Betty worked as a cook and janitor over the years. She cooked at Bear Paw Café and the 4 C's. She eventually retired from the Chippewa Cree Tribe as a custodian. 

She is survived by her brothers George Henderson, Odin "Bull" (Ramona) Henderson, Virgil "Tick" (Toni) Henderson, Dean "Chicken" Henderson, Olin "Oly" Henderson. Her sister Judith Wood. Her daughters Jody (Duane Raining Bird) LaMere and Billie Jo (Carter) Coffee. Her grandchildren Ronni Jo LaMere, Shaneen (Zach) Hammond, Rodney (Kari) Turn Toes, Bridgett Raining Bird, Kylee Raining Bird, Isaiah (Shaylee) Turn Toes, Lane (Miracle) Turn Toes, Sasha Coffee and Carlynn Coffee. She has 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Jane Henderson; her brothers Lenno "Tug" Henderson, Lyman Henderson, Frank Henderson, Joey Henderson, Loren Henderson and Ule "Jinx" Henderson; her sisters Gloria Fisher and Donna Turner; her beloved son Eugene LaMere Jr. and daughter Ronna Turn Toes; grandson Jerod Coffee.

Wake services began at the Rocky Boy Lutheran Church Sunday, January 21st, and continue through today, Jan. 22nd.  Her funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024. Her burial will follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.
