Blue Ponies wrestle in Missoula

As the Havre High wrestling teams gear up for the postseason, they were hoping to use the Rocky Mountain Classic and the Hellgate Invitational in Missoula this past weekend as a warmup. At the end of the tournaments, the HHS boys wrestling team finished fourth in the Rocky Mountain Classic while the HHS girls team took fifth in the Hellgate Invitational.

In the Rocky Mountain Classic, the HHS boys wrestling team scored 159.5 total points to finish fourth. Mead won the tournament with 262 total points as Ronan came in second and Coeur d'Alene took third.

Many Blue Ponies wrestled over the course of the tournament. Reinhard Bold finished second wrestling in the 152-pound weight class. He started the weekend by winning a 14-12 decision against Coeur d'Alene's Brock Armstrong. He then won an 11-0 major decision against Lake City's Caden Dutra. In the semifinal, Bold won an 18-8 major decision against Powell's Jeremy Harms.

At 285 pounds, Tommy Lewis took second for the Ponies. In the quarterfinal, Lewis pinned Superior's Jaxson Green. Then in the semifinal, Lewis pinned Doug Bettger from Powell.

Matt Lemer took third for Havre at 132 pounds. In the consolation round, Lemer pinned Ronan's Tyson Lake and then won a 12-0 major decision against Ronan's Joey Fulwiler. Lemer then pinned Hammish Smith from Missoula Big Sky/Loyola Sacred Heart and Boston Spear from Coeur d'Alene. In the third-place match, Lemer won a 5-1 decision against Frenchtown's Cole Johnson.

At 138 pounds, Carson Harris took third for Havre. In consolation matches, Harris pinned Missoula Sentinel's Darren Fuller and Lake City's Josh Macdonald. He further pinned Dilan Courtney from Missoula Big Sky/Loyola Sacred Heart and Jordan Walker from Frenchtown. In the third-place match, Harris won a 7-5 decision against University's Caleb Burbank.

Landen Caplette finished third at 170 pounds. In the quarterfinal, Caplette won by medical forfeit against University's Jaxon Lefler. In a consolation match, Caplette pinned Anthony Browning from Coeur d'Alene. In the third-place match, Caplette pinned Frenchtown's Dillon Warner.

At 182 pounds, Pierce Caplette finished third. He first won by an 11-2 major decision against Frenchtown's Nathan Hansen. In the quarterfinal, Caplette won an 8-3 decision against Quincy King from Missoula Big Sky/Loyola Sacred Heart. In a consolation match, Caplette pinned Ronan's Brady Hout. In the third-place bout, Caplette pinned Gabe Grassel from Coeur d'Alene.

Tucker Stygles finished fifth wrestling at 103 pounds. In the quarterfinal, Stygles pinned Raivis Sois from Missoula Big Sky/Loyola Sacred Heart. In the fifth-place match, Stygles won an 11-2 major decision over Ronan's Justus Orman-Bergman.

At 145 pounds, Tristan Stylges finished fifth for Havre. He first pinned Superior's Sam Doughty and then won by technical fall over Lake City's Alden Curto. In the fifth-place bout, Stygles won an 11-6 decision against Curto.

Mason Wilting finished eighth at 205 pounds. He first pinned Ronan's Mason Waymann. Then in a consolation match, Wilting pinned Missoula Hellgate's David Hetrick.

In the Hellgate Invitational, the HHS girls wrestling team finished fifth with 91 total team points. Sandpoint won the tournament with 130 total team points while Bonners Ferry finished second and Ronan took third.

In the tournament, Angelina Siebanaller finished second at 185 pounds. In the semifinal, Siebanaller pinned Sandpoint's Emma Hilton. Aliyah Stiffarm also took second as she wrestled in the heavyweight bracket. In the semifinal, Stiffarm pinned Sandpoint's Lilli Martin.

McKenna Caplette took third at 114 pounds. She first pinned University's Olivia Vignere. In a consolation match, Caplette pinned Brooke Jamison from Missoula Big Sky/Loyola Sacred Heart. In the third-place match, Caplette pinned Frenchtown's Adeline Stewart.

At 120 pounds, Brooklyn Wilting finished fourth for Havre. She first pinned Delilah Hanson from Columbia Falls. Then in some consolation matches, Wilting pinned Ronan's Giselle Barron-Valenzuela and Ireland Grady from Bonners Ferry. Her teammate Allyson Kaul finished fifth at 100 pounds.

The HHS wrestling teams will next compete in the Class A Duals in Butte this weekend.
