Havre basketball looks for strong start to 2024

With the new year here, both the Havre High boys and girls basketball teams will look to start 2024 strong. Both teams will compete in their first action of the year on the road this weekend as the boys will face Hardin and Miles City and the girls will face Malta, Hardin and Miles City.

The HHS girls team begins its slate tonight on the road against Malta. The M-Ettes are off to a 2-2 start this winter. The Blue Ponies then stay on the road Friday to face the Hardin Bulldogs, who are 3-2 this year. The Ponies will end their road trip Saturday when they face their conference foe Miles City. The Cowgirls are off to a stellar start this season with a 7-0 record.

The Ponies head on their road trip with a 5-0 record this season. If the Ponies want to remain undefeated at the end of this weekend, top players such as Ariana Gary and Sierra Parker will need to continue their strong starts to the year.

The HHS boys basketball team will start its road trip Friday when it plays at Hardin. The Bulldogs are off to a 2-3 start this year but have won two games in a row. The Ponies then end their road trip Saturday when they face off with conference rival Miles City, who is 2-5 this year.

The HHS boys team will look to stay hot this weekend after starting the season with a 5-1 record. Tre Gary has been playing well this year for Havre with 19.5 points a game on 52.8 percent shooting from the field. Shane Patacsil will also look to make an impact this week as he is averaging 12.5 points a game this year on 50.9 percent shooting.

The HHS girls basketball team will play at Malta tonight at 5 p.m. The Ponies will then continue their road trip at Hardin Friday at 6 p.m. and then at Miles City Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

This weekend, the HHS boys basketball team will head on the road to play Hardin Friday at 7:30 p.m. and then head to Miles City to play Saturday at 5 p.m.
