Local News - Lifeguard course set at Havre pool

A five-day American Red Cross Lifeguard Course will be held at Havre Community Pool this month.

The lifeguard course, available to people 15 years old and older, will integrate online classes with in-person learning. Certification will be given to applicants who have successfully passed the course.

Applicants must pre-register for the course and take the pre-course and swim test Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 6:45 p.m.

The swim test requires prospective lifeguards be able to swim 300 yards, continuously tread water for two minutes and complete a timed brick retrieval.

The course will be Dec. 26-29, 3:30-6:30 p.m., and Dec. 30, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the pool. Cost is $250, but if certificate earners are hired by the city, this cost is waived.
