Pony swimmers open the season in Billings

The Havre High swim teams jumped into the pool this past Saturday, as they opened their new season at the Billings Invitational.

The Blue Ponies competed against a slew of Class AA teams, as well as Billings Central at the first meet of the new season.

The Havre girls scored 97 points, while the Pony boys scored 63, with both teams finishing in seventh place overall.

Britton Elliot was a shining light for the Ponies as she won the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.81. Liliana Smith took sixth for the Pony girls in the 500 free, while Koby Preputin was sixth on the boys side in the 500 free. Blake Taylor scored for HHS as well, taking fifth in the 100 backstroke, while the Pony boys and girls placed in each of the relay events as well.

The Havre High swim teams will continue the new season with a pair of meets this weekend in Great Falls. Havre then hosts the Havre Invitational Jan. 6 at the Havre Community Pool.
