Havre girls basketball looks for fourth straight state title

Over the past three seasons, the Havre High girls basketball team has cemented itself as the team to beat in Class A basketball with three straight state championships. With a new season arriving, the Blue Ponies will look to make history once again with another title.

The Ponies return several players from last year's state championship team. Amaya Jarvis was a key contributor for the Ponies and will look to once again make an impact this winter. Kyanna Jarvis and Ariana Gary will also return as they try to help the Ponies navigate their schedule this winter.

The Ponies open the season this Friday with a road game against East Helena. The next day, the Ponies will host their home opener against Lockwood. Then on Dec. 12, the Ponies head on the road once again to face Malta.

Dec. 15 and 16, the Ponies will host the East/West Showdown where they will face Whitefish and Loyola. The Ponies will then wrap up the month of December with home games against Browning and Laurel.

The Ponies will open January with a road game against Hardin. The following day, the Ponies will stay on the road to face Miles City in their first conference game of the season. Then Jan. 13, the Ponies head on the road again for a conference game against Glendive.

The following weekend, the Ponies will host a pair of conference games against Lewistown and Sidney. Then Jan. 26, Havre will host Miles City for a conference matchup. The next day, the Ponies head on the road to face a tough Billings Central squad.

Feb. 3, the Ponies will host a conference game against Miles City. A few days later, Havre will play at home against Malta. Later that week, the Ponies will head on the road for conference games against Lewistown and Sidney to end the regular season.

The Ponies will open the postseason with the Eastern A Divisional Tournament in Billings Feb. 22-24. If they qualify, they will then compete in the Class A State Tournament in Butte March 7-9.

However, the postseason and a possible fourth-straight state title are a ways away as the Ponies look to find their chemistry during the regular season.

The HHS girls basketball team will start the season on the road against East Helena this Friday at 6:30 p.m.
