A barn southeast of Havre was lost in a fire Sunday morning.

Havre Fire Chief Nathan Courtnage said that a caller at 10:04 a.m. Sunday reported barn fire on the 1900 Block of Bullhook Road Southeast. When Havre Fire Department responded they found the structure, part of the JS Livestock facilities, fully involved in the fire, and they released some pigs that were penned near the building and contained the fire to the structure. The barn is a total loss, he said.

Hill County Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator Amanda Frickel said a couple pigs died in the fire, but no people were injured. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, she added.

Courtnage said 12 firefighters from Havre Fire responded with three engines, an ambulance and a command vehicle, and Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department sent a water tender and an engine with a crew.
