Local Scouts in Troop 1438 were honored for their achievements in a Court of Honor this fall.
Troop 1438 held a Court of Honor where Scouts were recognized for their achievements. Troop 1438 had 18 Scouts earn a total of seven awards, eight ranks and 61 merit badges.
The following scouts earned the respective merit badges: Orrin Greenwood — Cooking, First Aid; Blake Marsh — Canoeing, Kayaking; Calvin Frye — Pets, Wood Carving; Skott Williams — Archery, Nuclear Science; Gabe Cline — Pets, Nature, Mammal Study; Tallen Schend — Canoeing, Indian Lore, Nature; Russell Petty — Signs Signals and Codes, Indian Lore; Severin Heimbigner — Pets, Nature, Canoeing, Lifesaving; Jackson Siemens — Archery, Geocaching, Canoeing, Pets; Ernie Goettlich — Pets, Wood Carving, Geocaching, First Aid; Keyon Roberts — Wilderness Survival, Astronomy, Cooking; John Hummert — Chess, Art, Leatherworking, Geocaching, Pets, Orienteering; Reid Holmes — Swimming, Environmental Science, Reptile and Amphibian Study; Isaac Cammon — Rifle Shooting, Rowing, Wood Carving, First Aid, Climbing; Walter Heimbiginer — Geocaching, Leatherwork, Chess, Signs Signals and Codes; Travis Huseby — Leatherwork, Pioneering, Shotgun Shooting, Cooking, Geology, Fishing, Forestry; and Noah Siemens — Camping, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science, Personal Fitness, Traffic Safety.
The seven awards and the recipients are as follows: Totin’ Chip and Firem’n Chit — Anthony Marsh and Skott Williams; Outdoor Ethics Awareness Award — Travis Huseby and Keyon Roberts, and Stand Up Paddle Boarding — Jackson Siemens
The eight ranks that were earned included: Scout Rank — Calvin Frye and Skott Williams; Second Class Rank — Ernie Goettlich, Russell Petty, Tallen Schend and Walter Heimbigner; and First Class Rank — Keyon Roberts and Orrin Greenwood.
Troop 1438 is chartered by First Lutheran Church in Havre. Troop 1438 had previously been Chartered as 438 and prior to that Troop 38. This unit has been chartered since Oct. 1, 1947.
Meetings are held Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First Lutheran Church. All are welcome to stop by and learn more about the Boy Scouts of America’s various programs.
