Obituary - LaVern Joan Perkins

LaVern Joan Perkins died of lung cancer Oct. 26. 2023, in Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, Montana.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes, 101 Wilson St., Broadus, Montana.

LaVern was born May 5, 1946, in Miles City, Montana, to Elmer and Lydia (Halford) Watters.

She attended and graduated from Broads High School and, later in life, went to Miles Community College and Montana State University-Northern to continue her education.

She married Glenn Perkins of Gillette, Wyoming, Feb. 12, 1966, and worked as a customer service representative for Walmart in Havre.

LaVern's hobbies included crocheting, gardening, rock collecting and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her brother Frank Watter, her parents, Elmer and Lydia Watter, and her grandchildren Marc DeLaurier, Kable Williams and Tel Perkins.

She is survived by her children, Starlaen Perkins, Havre, Montana, Loren (Dee) Perkins, Belgrade, Montana, and Nichcol (Kevin) Harrell, Shepherd, Montana; grandchildren Hayden (Mandy) Williams, Buckey, Arizona, Stormi Williams, Great Falls, Montana, Christian DeLaurier, Kyle DeLaurier and Skylar DeLaurier, Havre, Montana, Jasmine Harrell, Billings, Montana, Racquel Harrell, Missoula, Montana, William Harrell, Shepherd, Montana, and Cydney Dolson, Stevensville, Montana, and great-grandchildren, Saint Williams and Shia Williams, Buckey, Arizona, Aila Perkins, Great Falls, Montana, and Leon DeLaurier, El Cajon, California, and her sisters and brothers Virgina Pierce, Broadus, Montana, Cora (Gary) Bynum, Eager, Arizona, AZ, Clinton Watters, Broadus, Montana, Darlene (Jim) Hance, Gillette, Wyoming, and Mable Lane, Miles City, Montana.

Her family suggests memorials be made to Hi-Line Sletten Cancer Institute in Havre as a source of ongoing support during her cancer journey.
