After winning their playoff openers last weekend, a pair of Hi-Line high school football teams will look to win again this weekend in order to advance to the playoff semifinals. The Fort Benton Longhorns will look for another win in the 8-man football playoffs, while the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks will look to stay alive in the six-man football playoffs.
The Fort Benton Longhorns will host Superior this Saturday afternoon. The Longhorns enter the game as the No. 2 seed from the North and they have now won two games in a row for a 7-2 record this season.
Their opponent, the Superior Bobcats, enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed from the West with a 6-4 record. The Bobcats have found their stride right in time for the playoffs as they have won three straight games where they are averaging 64.7 points a contest.
In the six-man playoffs, the CJI Hawks will play Froid-Medicine Lake in Chester this Saturday afternoon. The Hawks will look to continue their strong season as the Northern No. 1 seed with an 8-1 record. The Hawks have won their last eight games where they have averaged 57.1 pointa a contest.
The Hawks will face a tough opponent in the Froid-Medicine Lake Redhawks, who are the Eastern No. 1 seed in the bracket. The Redhawks are undefeated this season with a 9-0 record and have won their games by an average margin of 50.5 points a game.
With just two wins between them and a spot in the state championship game later this month, both the Longhorns and Hawks will look to keep up their strong play in order to keep their dreams alive.
The Fort Benton football team will play Superior at home Saturday at 1 p.m.
The CJI football team will face Froid-Medicine Lake in Chester Saturday at 1 p.m.
