Blue Ponies open postseason with Eastern A Divisionals

The postseason is finally here for the Havre High volleyball team as it gets set for the Eastern A Divisional Tournament in Lockwood starting today. With a spot in the state tournament on the line, the Blue Ponies will look to play their best volleyball of the season this weekend.

The Ponies begin divisionals today at 1 p.m. with a match against Lockwood. The Lions defeated Livingston, 3-0, to clinch their spot in the tournament. In the tip-off tournament at the beginning of the season, Havre and Lockwood fought to a 1-1 tie in a two-set match.

The Ponies finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-4 and a record of 6-2 in the Northeast A. Over the course of the season, the Ponies have been led by players such as Kyanna Jarvis and Ariana Gary, who look to lead the Ponies to further success this weekend.

If Havre defeats Lockwood to start the tournament, the Ponies will face either Billings Central or Sidney who will play each other today at 3 p.m. In their lone meeting during the regular season, Billings Central defeated Havre, 3-2. Against Sidney, the Ponies split the season series with a 3-2 win at home and a 3-2 loss on the road.

The Eastern A Divisionals began this morning with a match between Laurel and Lewistown. Against Lewistown this season, the Ponies swept the Golden Eagles with a 3-1 win on the road and a 3-0 victory at home.

Also this morning was a match between Hardin and Glendive. Glendive clinched a spot in the tournament after defeating Miles City, 3-2, in a play-in match. During the regular season, Havre split its season series against Glendive. In their lone match against Hardin, Havre lost 3-0.

The winners of the opening matches of the tournament will play again in matches tonight at 5 and 7 p.m. The winner of those matches will then face each other on Friday at 5 p.m., with the winner of that match going to the championship match on Saturday at noon. With a spot in the state tournament on the line, the Ponies will need to go on a run deep into the weekend.

The HHS volleyball team will begin the Eastern A Divisionals today at 1 p.m. with a match against Lockwood.
