It was another tough day in the Frontier Conference for the Montana State University-Northern football team.
The Lights lost 44-0 at Montana Western Saturday afternoon in Dillon.
Northern tallied 61 yards of total offense - 98 passing - while the Bulldogs accounted for 527, of which 360 yards were in the air.
Northern quarterback Ashton Platt went 11 for 24 through the air for 98 yards. Colter Woldstad caught three passes for 42 yards, while Devin Shelton had one catch for 24 yards. Andrez Trahan-Proctor ran the ball two times for eight yards. Northern's defense was led by Braydon Cline who accounted for 12 total tackles. Dylan Wampler added 10 tackles. There were breakups and three sacks on the night.
Montana Western quarterback Jake Humphrey completed 17 of 27 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns. Humphrey led the team in rushing yards with 90. Running back Pete Gibson carried the ball eight times for 50 yards. Eli Nourse led the receivers with 11 catches for 142 yards. The defense was led by Aiden Prado with five tackles and two breakups. Brady Mounts added five tackles.
The Lights have now lost seven straight games, and are 1-7 overall, and 0-6 in the Frontier. Northern will host Montana Tech this Saturday in its final home game of 2023. Kickoff is set for noon at Tilleman Field.
