Work underway, time needed for replacement roadway to cure
Work fixing a water main break on Fifth Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets will begin later today, but the area will likely be closed off to drivers for the next couple days at least.
The street, a main thoroughfare in Havre, was blocked by midday Friday after the break was reported.
Friday, Havre Public Works announced that they were aware of the break and advised people to be aware of personnel and equipment in the area.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause our residents and thank you for your patience and understanding," the release said.
Detours have been set up to route traffic with signs blocking the traffic where the avenue intersects with both Sixth Street and Seventh Street.
Havre Public Works Deputy Director Chris Klobofski said the time it takes for roads to cure enough to be reopened varies significantly, but it will be at least a couple of days before it is reopened and people should plan accordingly.
