Raiders dominate the Lights in Havre

The Lights found the end zone more often, but, in the end, it still wasn't enough.

The Montana State University-Northern Lights played Southern Oregon University on Saturday afternoon at Tilleman Field. The Lights lost to the Raiders 42-13.

Northern tallied 69 yards of total offense (48 passing), while the Raiders accounted for 419, of which 352 yards were in the air.

Northern quarterback Ashton Platt went nine for 23 through the air for 48 yards. Cannan Smith caught three passes for 23 yards. Mason Dionne carried the ball 20 times for 24 yards. Northern's defense was led by Dylan Wampler who accounted for 13 total tackles (nine solo). Braydon Cline added eight tackles and one fumble recovery. Joshua Rose and Brady Smelser each had one interception.

Southern Oregon quarterback Blake Asciutto completed 18 of 34 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Avery McCuaig carried the ball 11 times for 62 yards with one touchdown. Moku Noa led the receivers with six catches for 156 yards with one touchdown. The defense was led by Jordan Faifai with six tackles. Spencer Kuffel added four tackles, one interception for 40 yards, and two breakups.

The Lights moved to 1-6 on the season and 0-5 in Conference play. The Raiders are now 3-2 in conference play.
