After several months of hard work, the Havre High cross country teams wrapped up the season with the Class A State Cross Country Meet in Kalispell this past Saturday. In their most important meet of the season, the HHS girls team placed sixth while the HHS boys team finished eighth.
The HHS girls team finished sixth with 180 total points in the meet. Hardin won the girls meet with 37 total points while Corvallis finished second and Hamilton placed third. In the final meet of the year, several Blue Ponies ran well for the girls team.
Ashlyn Ford capped off her freshman year by taking ninth with a time of 19:48.79. Her teammate Hailey Gingery finished 28th with a time of 21:13.75 and Paige Anderson took 41st with a time of 21:49.00.
Fellow Pony Clara Harlem finished 44th with a time of 22:07.93 and Gracie Shandorf took 58th with a time of 22:40.46. Sarah Bachmeier finished 70th while Marley Springer placed 94th for the Ponies.
The HHS boys team finished eighth in its meet with 234 total points. Browning won the boys meet with 96 total points while Laurel came in second and Columbia Falls came in third. Several Ponies ran well for the boys team in the final meet of the season.
Caleb Tomac wrapped up his high school career with a seventh-place finish with a time of 16:31.94. Mason Gregoire took 30th with a time of 17:24.96 and Zack May took 31st with a time of 17:26.20.
Fellow Pony Jayvon Big Knife placed 67th with a time of 18:13.50 and Cesar Lara took 99th with a time of 19:06.49. Koby Preputin took 125th and Brayden Nimmick placed 133rd to round it out for the Ponies.
With the state cross country meet now in the books, the Ponies now wrap up their first season under head coach Danielle Parsons. With several runners returning from this team coming back next year, the program should continue to grow as a program.
