Havre football faces tough road test to end regular season

After eight long weeks, the regular season will come to an end for the Havre High football team. While the Blue Ponies are looking for a strong end to their season, it will come tonight on the road against a tough Lewistown squad.

The Lewistown Golden Eagles head into the contest with a 7-1 record this season. The Eagles have been playing well this year averaging 26.6 points a contest. In just their past two games, the Eagles have averaged 34 points.

The Ponies hold a 5-3 record this season and are 3-1 in their last four games. During that stretch, the Ponies have averaged 27 points a game. However, they will be going up against a Lewistown team that they suffered a 24-7 loss to last season at home.

If the Ponies want to keep pace with Lewistown tonight, their offense will need to be productive. Quarterback Griffin Terry, who has started the last three games for Havre, will look to lead the offense. In his playing time this year, Terry has completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 605 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.

Terry will be looking to connect with his playmakers tonight. At wide receiver, Terry has Tre Gary who has 28 catches for 424 yards and four touchdowns this year. Just last weekend against Sidney, Gary had a monster game with 10 catches for 163 yards and two scores.

Along with the passing game, the Ponies will look to move the ball on the ground as well. Tate Nelson has led the Havre rushing attack this season, where he has 711 yards and nine touchdowns on 4.8 yards a carry.

With tonight's game, the regular season will come to an end for the Ponies. With the postseason right around the corner, the Ponies will look for a strong finish to carry over into the playoffs.

The HHS football team will play on the road against Lewistown tonight at 7 p.m.
