Obituary - Ruth 'Bunny Bobo' Brisbo-Winchell Obituary

October 9th, 2023, we lost our much-loved matriarch Ruth "Bunny Bobo" Brisbo-Winchell.

Bunny was born March 12, 1929, and came from humble beginnings from her family home in Big Warm, at Lodge Pole, Mt., on the Fort Belknap Indian reservation.

Bunny left her home at the tender age of 12 to attend high school in Flandreau, S.D where she graduated at 16 years old.

She then made her way to Havre, Mt., where she made her home for many years and met many of her lifelong friends.

Bunny married Edward "Bill" Winchell in Havre, Mt., and they spent many happy years together and later divorced.

Gram Bun enjoyed life to the end and no matter how difficult things got for her, her words were always "but I still don't want to die." She was an altruistic person and always had very sincere compassion for anyone in need. Our Mom/Gram passed away with much dignity and courage and fought to the very end. We will certainly miss her humor and how she placed all her kids in their proper positions when she thought one of us was getting out of line verbally. She always reminded all of us that "she was the living, breathing boss."

Bunny was a staunch Jehovah's Witness. She believed in Jehovah's promises in the Bible. She especially took much comfort in the scriptures at John 5:28, 29 with the promise of the resurrection in addition to Isaiah 25:8 which brings out that in the future Jehovah will swallow up death forever and "will wipe the tears from all faces."

Our Gram Bun was preceded in death by her parents, William Sr. and Annie (White Cow) Brisbo, her 13 siblings, brothers, William "Indian" Brisbo Jr., Edward and Edwin (twins), Edward "Unkey,," Richard and Oliver (twin sister Shirley) Brisbo; sisters, Shirley Brisbo, (twin), Jeanette Cochran, Dolores Healy, Theresa and Gerdie Brisbo, Vernie Main and Inez Bagley; sons-in-law, Frank "Johnnie Cake" Stiffarm and Dennis Brough; her son Theodore "Ted" Winchell and son/grandson, her precious Raymond "Gunny" Dupree, who she considered her 10th child, and other grandchildren Shawn Saddler Jr., Ryan Four Souls, DeMarise St. Mark, Marilyn Black Tongue, Tina M. Cochran, Duane P. Cole, Rodney Castro Jr. and Aviana Evelyn Castro.

Bunny is survived by her children, sons Mathew "Doug" (Tara) Winchell, and Roger Winchell; daughters, Linda (Manuel) Duran Sr., Judy Brough, Susan (Curly Cole) Winchell, Sula (Sonny Boy) St. Mark, Suane "Sachi" and Shannon Winchell; stepsons, Doug and Edward "Jr. Bugs" Winchell.

Gram was always very close with her nieces, Caroline Crazy Boy and Francene Brockie who she loved dearly, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she loved immensely.

We love and miss you so much, our beautiful Mom.

We would like to sincerely thank Billings Cremation and Funeral Services for your kind and thoughtful expression of sympathy during our time of bereavement.
