Press release
The Hi-Line Curling Club announced the commencement of the upcoming curling season with two free open curl sessions.
"We are delighted to invite the community to our open curl sessions," Hi-Line Curling Club President Carl Little said. "Curling is a sport that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and a sense of community. We welcome everyone to come and try it out, regardless of their experience level. It's a chance to have fun, stay active, keep the winter blues away, and connect with others who share your passion for curling."
Open curl is free, open to the public, and caters to all skill levels. The sessions will be held at the Have Ice Dome, and the club said it welcomes anyone 18 years and older to participate in the sport of curling. No prior experience is necessary, making it a perfect opportunity for beginners to experience curling.
The sessions are this Saturday, Oct. 21, from 3-5 p.m. and the following Saturday, Nov. 4, from 5-7 p.m. Both sessions are at the Have Ice Dome at 2585 Fifth Ave. SE
The club will provide all necessary equipment and will have dedicated lanes for those wanting to learn the sport. Bring clean, rubber-soled shoes, preferably sneakers and warm clothing that is easy to move around in to ensure comfort during the session.
Curling is a sport that combines strategy, skill, and camaraderie, and the Hi-Line Curling Club members said they are excited to share this experience with the community.
"Whether you are a seasoned player or a complete novice, these open curl sessions offer a fantastic opportunity to practice your skills, learn the game, make new friends, and have a great time on the ice," the club said in a release.
People can join the event Saturday from 3-5 p.m. and the following Saturday, Nov. 4, from 5-7 p.m. to experience the thrill of curling, the release said. For more information about open curl or joining the league for the 2023-24 season people can find the club on Facebook or email to [email protected].
