Skylights return from the break with a match at Western

It will have been 20 days since the Montana State University-Northern volleyball team last took the court. But, Friday night in Dillon, the rest is over.

Northern, and the rest of the Frontier Conference, returns to to action Friday night, with the Skylights visiting Montana Western. The match starts the final stretch of the 2023 season, in which the Skylights are currently 1-4 in conference play and 9-11 overall.

Western, meanwhile, is enjoying one of its strongest seasons in years as the Dawgs are 16-3 overall and 3-2 in the Frontier and tied for third place in the Frontier standings. Western also swept Northern 3-0 in the conference opener back Sept. 22 in Havre, but while the Dawgs are playing at a high level this fall, the Skylights are looking to return the favor Friday night.

The match at Western is not the only one of the weekend for the Skylights, who last played Oct. 7 when they fell to Rocky Mountain College. The match also starts the last leg of the season for Northern, which hosts Montana Tech next Thursday, and finishes the season with matches at Providence, at Carroll College and home against RMC Nov. 4.

Friday night's match between Northern and Western will tip at 7 p.m. in Dillon.
