After back to back Frontier Conference games at Tilleman Field, the Montana State University-Northern Lights will return to the road this week. The Lights will travel to nationally ranked College of Idaho for a showdown with the Yotes Saturday afternoon.
Northern (0-3, 1-4) is coming off a tough loss to Eastern Oregon last Saturday in Havre. In that game, the Lights'offense moved the ball well enough, but they just couldn't put much on the scoreboard. Former Havre Blue Pony Mason Dionne rushed for a career-high 120 yards in the loss the Mounties, but it wasn't enough as the Lights tallied 253 yards of offense, but also committed three costly turnovers.
The Yotes (3-1, 5-1), meanwhile, are in the hunt for the Frontier championship. C of I clobbered Arizona Christian 56-17 last Saturday on the road, and are now ranked No. 10 in the NAIA. Quarterback Andy Peters is having a huge season for the Yotes, while the team's running game is averaging more than 200 yards per outing. That will present big challenges for the Lights, who haven't beaten the Yotes on their home turf since C of I joined the Frontier more than a decade ago.
Northern and C of I will kick off at 1 p.m. M.S.T. Saturday in Caldwell, Idaho. The Lights return home to host Southern Oregon next Saturday afternoon.
