With tonight being Friday the 13th, the Havre High football team will be looking to avoid a scare in its home game against Sidney. The Blue Ponies only have two more games left in the regular season, so they will be looking for a win in their final home game of the year.
The Sidney Eagles will be looking to win their first game of the year as they head into tonight with an 0-7 record. The offense has especially been struggling this year, as they average only 9.3 points a game.
The Ponies head into tonight with a 4-3 record this season but they are coming off a 30-17 loss to Laurel on the road this past weekend. If the Ponies want to avoid a two-game losing streak, their best players will have to show out in front of the home crowd.
The Ponies have multiple options at quarterback. Ciaran Courtnage has started most of the games this season, completing 56.2 percent of his passes for 707 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. But Griffin Terry has gotten more playing time lately and has completed 55.8 percent of his throws for 338 yards, two touchdowns and one pick.
Whoever gets the most snaps at quarterback, they will have several playmakers to throw to. Tre Gary has 18 catches for 261 yards and two scores. Carson Harris has also made an impact this year with 12 catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
But if the Havre offense is really going to get on a roll, the running game will have to make an impact. Tate Nelson has led the rushing attack this year, where he has 664 yards and seven touchdowns on five yards per carry.
The Ponies will also hold their senior night tonight. As they celebrate tonight, the seniors and the Ponies will be looking to win their final home game of the year and put themselves in good position for the postseason.
HHS football will play Sidney at Blue Pony Stadium tonight at 7 p.m.
