A celebration is set for the dedication of a re-themed park and its monument marking the start of the walking trail at the park.
"Mark your calendars for the dedication ceremony of the Veterans of Hi-Line Park on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at 10 a.m.," a release said.
Local veterans organizations have taken over the park on 11th Street West, formerly US Bank Park, and have built a memorial at the start of the walking trail at the park.
They requested last year that the city officially rename the park, saying US Bank was willing to make the change.
The release said local veterans provided all supplies and did the work to build the sign marking the entrance to the walking trail.
It added that local and state dignitaries and members of the U.S. armed forces will be present to speak at the ceremony Oct. 21.
"The dedication ceremony will pay tribute to our veterans and their families and express our gratitude for their service," the release said. "We extend an invitation to all residents, especially veterans, to join us and be part of this historic event."
