Lights hoping for turnaround against EOU

The last time the Montana State University-Northern Lights won a Frontier Conference game, it was the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers who felt the brunt of that victory.

The Lights are now hoping that history repeats itself.

Northern beat EOU in a conference game two years ago to snap a long Frontier losing streak, and the Lights (0-3, 1-3) will try and snap another streak when they host EOU (1-2, 1-4) in a league matchup Saturday at Tilleman Field.

Northern will also be looking to bounce back from a difficult loss to Carroll College last Saturday at home, and they'll try to do it against a struggling EOU squad, though the Mountaineers do come to Havre with momentum as they blasted Arizona Christian 34-0 last Saturday. Players to watch for EOU include running back Aiden Patterson, who's been the workhorse on offense for EOU.

On the other side, the Lights need to kickstart their offense after mustering just 28 yards of offense against the Fighting Saints, and former Havre High running back Mason Dionne is trying to do just that for a Northern squad that will need to be at a high level at home this Saturday.

The Lights and Mounties will kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tilleman Field. Northern travels to nationally-ranked College of Idaho next week.
