Blue Ponies sweep Lewistown at home

The Havre High volleyball team has dominated conference play this season and that was no different on Tuesday night. At home at Havre High Gymnasium, the Blue Ponies defeated Lewistown, 3-0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-18).

The Ponies started the night strong as they jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set. The Golden Eagles tried to keep with it as they found themselves trailing 14-7. But the Ponies went on an 11-0 run to win the set, 25-7, for a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set was much more competitive. Throughout the contest, the Ponies and Eagles exchanged points as they battled it out to an 18-18 tie. But the Ponies again finished the set strong with a 7-2 run to win it, 25-20, for a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set started competitively as the two teams fought to a 12-12 stalemate. Again, the Ponies took control with an 11-4 run for a 24-16 lead in the set. The Eagles scored a pair of points to extend the set, but Havre eventually scored to win, 25-18, to finish off the match.

With the win, the Ponies improved their overall record to 9-1 this season. More importantly, the Ponies remain undefeated in the Northeast A with a conference record of 5-0.

The HHS volleyball team will next play Glendive in another conference match at HHS Gymnasium Friday at 5 p.m. The Ponies will then head on the road to play Billings Central Saturday at 4 p.m.
