Havre golfers shine at State A Tournament

For the second time in as many weeks, the Havre High golfers were on the course at the Sidney Country Club. But the last trip was the end of the line for the Ponies, as they played in the Class A State Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Havre didn’t qualify in the boys or girls team races so the Ponies had just individual scores. On the boys side, Havre was led by Reid Kato, who placed an outstanding 25th overall after shooting rounds of 87-82. Kato was making his second straight appearance at state. Fellow senior Shane Patacsil finished in 51st overall with rounds of 89-100, while junior Callen Stoner shot 110-95 to place 57th overall.

The boys tournament was won by Polson, and the Pirates also won the girls team title.

Havre senior Shea Reber was the lone Pony girl to qualify for state, where she shot rounds of 93-106 for 22nd place overall. It was Reber’s third straight trip to the state meet.

The state tournament concluded the season for head coach Dennis Murphy’s teams.
