Fresh off their bye week, the Montana State University-Northern Lights were hoping to build some momentum as September came to a close. Carroll College had other ideas, however.
The Lights lost against No. 9 Carroll College on homecoming 43-3 Saturday afternoon in a Frontier Conference game in Havre.
Northern tallied 28 yards of total offense (38 passing), while the Fighting Saints accounted for 337, of which 207 yards were on the ground.
Northern quarterback Benjamin Leherz went four for 10 through the air for 20 yards. Caymus Thomas caught four passes for 27 yards. Mason Dionne ran the ball 10 times for 22 yards. Northern’s defense was led by Lucas Thacker who had 10 tackles and one sack. Dylan Wampler added eight tackles and one interception.
Carroll College’s quarterback Jack Prka completed 14 of 22 passes for 142 yards. Running back Cormac Benn carried the ball six times for 92 yards. Carson Ochoa led the receivers with four catches for 54 yards. The defense was led by Jake Walk who led the team in tackles with four with a half a sack. Graham, and Giulio each had three tackles.
The Lights dropped to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the Frontier. They remain home to host Eastern Oregon this Saturday at Tilleman Field.
