Skylights fall in five to Argos

The Montana State University-Northern volleyball lost a heartbreaker Wednesday night in the Armory Gymnasium. And to their biggest rival no less.

The Skylights volleyball team lost in a Frontier Conference matchup against the University of Providence Wednesday in Havre. The Skylights lost in five sets (13-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-25 and 15-13). The Skylights got off to a great start in the first match going up 12-3. They had a couple big runs in at the end to take the set.

Providence came back in the second set fired up. They went on a big run 6-0 to take the lead and push them ahead to win the set. In the third set, both teams had some big runs. However, Providence went on a 5-0 run to take the set. The Skylights turned the game around when they had some big runs in the fourth set to push the game into five sets. The fifth set was anyone's game. The Skylights took the lead 10-6. The Argo's battled back to take the lead 13-12. The Skylights tied it up 13-13 and Providence had two big kills to take the game.

The Skylights were led by Alana Graves, who tallied 15 kills with a hitting percentage of .500. Jessalyn Chvilicek added 12 kills. Emily Feller led the team in assists and digs with 29 and 21.

The Argo's were led by Zoe Naugle, who had 10 kills hitting a percentage of .469. Bailey Christensen added 13 kills. Natalia Slazynska led the team with 34 assists in the match. Taylor Christensen also led the team in digs with 26.

The Skylights are 8-9 overall and 0-2 in the Frontier Conference. They travel to Montana Tech Saturday.
