Blue Ponies race at Mountain West Classic

This past Saturday in Missoula, the Havre High cross country teams competed in the Mountain West Classic. At the University of Montana Golf Course, the Blue Ponies ran against over 60 other schools. With such a dense field, the HHS girls team took 37th while HHS boys team finished 47th.

The HHS girls team scored 1,001 points to finish 37th. Gallatin won the girls meet with 123 points while Bozeman took second and Hardin took third. With so many runners and teams competing in the race, runners on the HHS girls team had trouble separating themselves from the pack.

Hailey Gingery had the best finish for the HHS girls team as she finished 143rd with a time of 21:49.7. Her teammate Paige Anderson finished 210th with a time of 22:59.4 while fellow Pony Clara Haslem took 221st with a time of 23:09.6.

The HHS boys team scored 1,312 points to finish 47th in the meet. Coeur D'Alene scored 45 points to finish first in the boys meet while Bozeman took second and Billings West took third.

Even with more than 450 runners in the race, Havre's Caleb Tomac finished 45th with a time of 16:44.0. His teammate Mason Gregoire finished 223rd in the race with a time of 18:42.8 while fellow Pony Koby Preputin took 351st with a time of 20:24.

The HHS cross country teams will continue the season with the Great Falls Invitational this Friday.
