Letter to the Editor - Local businesses are the best

Dear editor,

Here is a perfect example of why I think shopping at our local Havre businesses is so important.

Two weeks ago, I purchased a world globe at Ben Franklin Crafts for my grandson’s upcoming birthday. Today (Saturday), I decided to take the globe out of the box to look at it before wrapping. I was disappointed to see that the globe was broken in several places. Since I had misplaced the sales receipt, I was not sure if I would be able to return the globe. To make a long story short, Sherry and Megan, the store owners, exchanged it for a different globe which was the only one left. The replacement globe cost more than the original one, but it was exchanged straight across, much to my surprise. The two ladies definitely had compassion as to how important the globe was to me.

I greatly appreciate their special way of handling this misfortune of the broken world globe. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our country’s brokenness could be healed up so quickly with caring, kindness and love?
