The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team has one tune-up left before the start of Frontier Conference play. But, that tune-up will be against familiar Frontier rivals.
Northern (6-5) wraps up the preseason this weekend at the Frontier Preseason Tournament in Dillon. It marks the third year the tournament has been held, and the Skylights will get matches against Carroll College and Montana Tech on Friday, as well as Providence and Rocky Mountain College Saturday.
Northern is coming off a trip to Valley City, North Dakota, where the Skylights pulled off a couple of big wins, and were led by the stellar offense of Jessa Chvilicek and Alana Graves, as well as the setting of Emily Feller. Bailey Egan has been outstanding on defense for Northern, of head coach Jerry Wagner.
Last week also saw Egan earn Frontier Conference Defender of the Week, Feller was named Setter of the Week and Graves earned Attacker of the Week honors.
Of course, as league play approaches, things get more difficult for the Skylights as they square off against Carroll (5-7) Friday at 9 a.m. and defending league champion Tech (7-2) Friday at 4 p.m. Northern then faces the Argos (7-4) Saturday at 9 a.m. and the Battlin Bears (7-3) Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Skylights then open Frontier Conference play next Friday at home against Montana Western.
