Clack Museum Board discusses changes for museum

The H. Clack Museum Board members met Monday evening to discuss new and unfinished business for the museum.

The board also welcomed new member Dave Martens to the board, and a vote to change the number of board members from seven to nine was approved.

As of Labor Day, the Buffalo Jump is closed to the public for the upcoming winter season. They still have appointments for some schools to view the Jump before they close the site down for the winter. The Wahkpa Chu'gn sign has seen decay over the years, so they intend to fortify it with 4x8 boards, to ensure the public can view the sign easier from the road. They discussed several ideas to illuminate the sign during the evening time, but discussion is still in progress for that.

Peggy Ray donated photography books to sell at the museum. Her books vary from wildlife to homesteads and all the Bears Paw mountains have to offer. The museum has also received donations varying from $400 to $1,200.

The museum has been approved for a new computer to run its Past Perfect Program more efficiently.

A new cleaning schedule will be enforced during late fall during the colder weather temperatures.

A historical schoolhouse, the Faber School, that resides at the fairgrounds will be getting a new window replaced prior to the winter weather.

The updated days and hours for the museum will be Tuesday through Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The foundation's annual meeting will be held Oct. 15 at 2 p.m.

The next board meeting will be held Oct. 9. There was discussion of possibly changing meeting times and location, so as not to interfere with dinner time, however no decision was reached Monday.
