With it still being early in the season, the Havre High volleyball team is still continuing to learn and grow as a team. This past weekend exemplified that as the Blue Ponies defeated Glendive, 3-1, on the road but then lost to Hardin, 3-0, at home at Havre High Gymnasium.
The Ponies started the weekend with their trip to Glendive on Friday night. The Ponies started the night strong as they won the first, 25-23, to take a 1-0 victory in the match. The Ponies kept it up as they defeated Glendive, 25-22, in the second set for a 2-0 lead in the match.
Glendive finally responded by defeating Havre, 25-21, in the third set. But the Ponies retook momentum to win the fourth set, 25-22, to win the match. With the win, the Ponies start the year with a 1-0 record in the Northeast A.
But on Saturday at home, the Ponies could not carry over their momentum from the previous night. In the first set, the Bulldogs took control to win it, 25-17. The Bulldogs then won the second set, 25-13, to put the Ponies in a 2-0 hole in the match.
The Ponies played better in the third set, but Hardin ultimately won, 25-23, to win the match in three sets. With the loss, the Ponies dropped to 3-1 in the regular season.
The HHS volleyball team will next play on the road against Lewistown this Thursday at 6 p.m.
